The “Maze” Event
This is an interactive time-trial event where two robots compete against one another to escape from a maze and reach the surrounding finish line. The maze is constructed from plastic barriers and strategic locations on the floor are marked with white masking tape and aluminium tape as a possible assistance to navigation.

Start

Robots must commence on the ground, at rest, inside the inner enclosure. They must be in contact with the enclosure wall mid-way between the exits as indicated in the diagram.

The starting procedure will be 'Ready', 'Set', 'Go'.

Robots should be activated on 'Go'.

Finish

The race time for each robot will be measured when any part of the robot reaches the finish line.

Points

The score for each robot will be calculated using the formula:

            Score = 15 x (Overall fastest time) ÷ (Measured time)

This gives 15 points for the fastest measured time and fewer points for slower times.

Robots that fail to finish an event will be assigned a time of 600 seconds for the run.
