Competition Rules

The rules governing the Robotics Challenge competition are:

1.    All robots are to comply with the robot specifications. (See safety note below)

2.   There is to be no use of complete off the shelf remote controlled vehicles.

3    The entry must be autonomous and not remote controlled.

4.    The same robot is to be used for all four challenge events.  Different operating modes are permitted but parts cannot be changed between events.

5.    Teams are to compete at the times and places specified in the event schedule.

6.    Each event may only be attempted a maximum of three times within the allotted 5 minute interval and the best score will be recorded.

7.    Three prizes will be awarded: 1st, 2nd and 3rd according to the aggregate of marks obtained for the report and the challenge.  Should there be a tie; the team with the higher score for the team report will take precedence.

Safety

The intention is that teams base their robots on Lego Mindstorms NXT series robotic kits, but additional parts, components and materials may be incorporated. This; however, is subject to an overarching need to maintain safety. The Robotics Challenge organisers maintain the right to exclude any robot from the competition if, in their opinion, the robot is judged to be unsafe or is no longer distinguishable as a Lego Mindstorm NXT series robotic kit.
